SC Raises Alarm Over Lack of Designated Authority for Judicial Services Exam Candidates

In a recent ruling, the Supreme Court highlighted issues regarding the lack of a specific body designated by High Courts to address queries from candidates participating in judicial services examinations. This absence raises concerns, as candidates may require clarification in cases of uncertainty.

The bench, consisting of Justices Hrishikesh Roy and Prashant Kumar Mishra, advocated for the creation of a designated authority within the recruitment process. They emphasized the need for this authority to have well-defined roles, functions, and responsibilities. Such a structure would enable candidates to seek clarification in cases of uncertainty, thereby alleviating their concern.

The court also proposed another suggestion, advocating for the provision of a fundamental syllabus outline for the upcoming test. This outline would aid candidates from various backgrounds in planning and preparing for the examination well in advance of the official notification.

The court emphasized the importance of adhering to the timeline set for the recruitment process. However, in the event of unavoidable circumstances requiring special attention, stakeholders must be promptly informed. This transparency ensures that all parties involved are kept updated and aware of any necessary adjustments.

The court issued a directive for the judgment to be brought to the attention of the Chief Justices of all High Courts. This ensures that the relevant authorities are made aware of the court's decision and its implications for the functioning of the judicial system across different regions.
