Beginning on July 1, 2024, the Supreme Court, along with all High Courts and subordinate courts, will start issuing 'notice-summons' via 'electronic communication'. This new procedure will encompass various platforms, including email and WhatsApp, to reach the relevant accused or parties.
Advocate Punit Chaturvedi, an expert in the three new laws, provided this information, emphasizing that this innovation could be a significant milestone towards creating a smarter work culture in the courts. Chaturvedi, who delivers lectures to enhance the legal knowledge of advocates in various courts including Jabalpur and Mumbai, shared these insights.
He clarified that Indian courts will begin issuing and serving notice-summons through various mediums, including email and WhatsApp, on an experimental basis. However, this will not entirely replace the traditional postal and hand-delivered notice-summon systems.
This innovative step is anticipated to yield better results, as it will prevent the accused and parties from using the old method of making excuses before the courts.
