SC issues notice on alleged nationwide scam involving Vivek Bindra's bada business

The Supreme Court has recently taken cognizance of a plea filed by 21 individuals, urging the establishment of a special investigation team under the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe an alleged nationwide scam involving renowned motivational speaker Vivek Bindra and his company, Bada Business Pvt Ltd.

In response to the petition submitted by Shubham Chaudhary and 20 others, the Bench comprising Justices MM Sundresh and SVN Bhatti has issued notices to the Central government, CBI, Enforcement Directorate (ED), and 12 states, soliciting their responses within a six-week timeframe.

The petitioners assert that they invested their hard-earned money in what they describe as a money chain-like scheme orchestrated by Bada Business Pvt Ltd. Despite lodging written complaints with local law enforcement authorities, the complainants claim that no action has been taken thus far.

Given the wide-reaching scope of the alleged scam spanning across multiple states, the petition calls for the involvement of a centralized agency to conduct a comprehensive investigation. This, the petition argues, would mitigate the risk of redundant legal proceedings, ensure a fair inquiry, and provide a singular point of contact for the aggrieved individuals.

The petition outlines Vivek Bindra as a self-proclaimed motivational speaker who, along with his marketing team, purportedly deceived numerous young aspirants across the nation. The modus operandi allegedly employed by Bindra and his company involved leveraging the names of well-known personalities to endorse their courses, which were marketed as avenues for building successful businesses and earning substantial monthly incomes.

The petition further alleges that these courses, extensively advertised across various social media platforms, misrepresented their offerings and promised unrealistic returns. In cases where the promised outcomes were not achieved, Bindra purportedly assured participants of full fee refunds.

The plea contends that such misleading marketing tactics have resulted in financial losses for numerous individuals who placed their trust in Bindra and Bada Business Pvt Ltd.
