SC Hosts National Conference to Strengthen District Judiciary

The Supreme Court of India is set to host a two-day National Conference of the District Judiciary on 31st August and 1st September, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam.

The event will be inaugurated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, who will also release a commemorative coin and postage stamp celebrating 75 years of the Apex Court. The inaugural function will be graced by several dignitaries, including Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State (I/C) for Law and Justice.

On 1st September, the Hon’ble President of India, Smt Draupadi Murmu, will deliver the valedictory address and unveil the Supreme Court's flag and insignia. Guided by the Hon'ble Chief Justice of India, the conference will feature six sessions over two days, with more than 800 participants from the district judiciary of all States and Union Territories.

Key sessions will focus on enhancing infrastructure and human resources, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in the judiciary, addressing judicial security and wellness, and improving case management. Discussions will also cover judicial training and methods, as well as ways to strengthen the support provided by High Courts and the Supreme Court to the district judiciary.

The conference, attended by Hon'ble Judges of the Supreme Court, Chief Justices of High Courts, and other senior judicial officers, aims to foster meaningful dialogue on the challenges faced by the district judiciary. By promoting collaboration and shared responsibility, this event will play a crucial role in shaping the future of judicial administration in India, ensuring justice is timely, fair, and accessible to all citizens
