SC Hosts Annual Sports and Cultural Meet to Foster Unity; CJI expresses Interest in Antakshari Competition

Recently, the Supreme Court of India held its annual sports and cultural meet aimed at fostering unity among all employees working in the registry. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud expressed his enthusiasm to participate in the events, specifically mentioning his interest in singing. However, the organizers advised him against enrolling in the Antakshari competition.

"You don't trust my voice but you trust my football playing," he said.

Yesterday, the prize distribution ceremony took place, presided over by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud. He awarded the winners of the various competitions and delivered a speech emphasizing the significance of such events.

"It is a matter of happiness that the families of the registry employees also participate in this annual program. The registry is a family of 2,500 employees and when their families also participate, it becomes a big family," the Chief Justice said.

During an event, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud announced a salary hike for all employees of the registry. He stated that such a decision is typically made upon a Chief Justice's retirement but explained that they wished to motivate and reward the staff.

Expressing his gratitude, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud acknowledged the vital role played by the registry and emphasized that without their cooperation, the judiciary cannot effectively serve the nation and society. He recognized the significant contributions of the registry in supporting the court's functioning and fulfilling its responsibilities towards justice and the welfare of the country.

CJI humorously mentioned that the registry excels at playing the game with judges on a daily basis, highlighting their ability to adapt and navigate dynamic situations.

The Chief Justice of India emphasized the need to gear up for next year's event with an inclusive approach. Further, he encouraged men to actively take part in activities like cooking competitions, promoting a more diverse and inclusive participation across different interests and abilities.

He also distributes trophies to the winners in cricket, football, volleyball, antakshari, musical chair, rangoli and painting competitions and also gave trophies to the children of the employees who performed best in the results of class 10th-12th.

During this, Justice KV Vishwanathan, Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Secretary General Atul M Kuherkar and employees of the registry were also present.
