SC gets new insignia and Flag

The President of India Her Excellency Draupadi Murmu today unveiled a new insignia (Logo) and Flag for the Supreme Court of India. It was handed over to the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.

During the valedictory session of the two-day National Conference of District Judiciary organized by the Supreme Court, President Murmu praised the Court for its invaluable role as a vigilant guardian of the judicial system in the world’s largest democracy. She noted that Indian jurisprudence holds a highly esteemed position globally, thanks to the Supreme Court's contributions.

The President commended the Supreme Court for organizing numerous programs in celebration of its 75th anniversary, which have bolstered public trust and engagement with the judicial system.

President Murmu reiterated that the public views every judge in the country as a divine figure, placing a moral obligation on all judges and judicial officers to uphold dharma, truth, and justice.

She emphasized that district-level courts shape the judiciary’s image in the minds of millions of citizens. Therefore, delivering justice at the district level with sensitivity, efficiency, and affordability is fundamental to the success of the judiciary. The President acknowledged recent improvements in infrastructure, facilities, training, and human resources at the district level but pointed out that much work remains in these areas.

Highlighting the significant challenge of case pendency, with some cases lingering for over 32 years, President Murmu stressed the importance of organizing more frequent special Lok Adalat weeks to address this issue.

She also suggested that justice should be made accessible in local languages and adapted to local conditions to bring it closer to the people. The President called for collaboration between the judiciary, government, and police to resolve issues related to evidence and witnesses.

In closing, President Murmu expressed confidence that the implementation of new criminal justice laws will usher in a new era of justice in the country.
