On January 19, the Supreme Court conferred senior designations on 56 advocates, recognizing their exceptional contributions to the legal profession. These designations reflect the highest level of professional achievement and reputation within the judiciary. Following this, the Court continued its recognition of excellence in the legal community by conferring senior designations on an additional 5 advocates in March.

This year, the Supreme Court conferred senior designations on advocates after a gap of five years, marking a significant event within the legal community. For the first time, these designations were determined using modified guidelines introduced after the Supreme Court's 2017 judgment in Indira Jaising v. Supreme Court of India. These new criteria aim to enhance transparency and fairness in the process, reflecting the evolving standards for recognizing legal excellence.
