Recently, the Supreme Court Collegium, during its meetings on 28th and 29th November 2024, has recommended the repatriation of Mr. Justice Chandra Dhari Singh, a sitting judge of the Delhi High Court, to his parent High Court, the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad.
Justice Singh, who was initially appointed to the Delhi High Court, will now return to serve in his home court, following the Collegium's decision. This move is in accordance with the established practice of transferring judges to their parent High Courts when deemed necessary for effective judicial administration and balance across the country’s judicial system.
The decision of the Supreme Court Collegium is an important part of the broader process of ensuring the judiciary remains accessible, efficient, and functional across various regions.
Justice Chandra Dhari Singh has served the Delhi High Court with distinction, contributing significantly to the judicial landscape of the capital. His return to the Allahabad High Court is expected to bolster the judicial strength in Uttar Pradesh, a region that frequently deals with complex legal matters.
This repatriation marks another chapter in the dynamic and evolving landscape of India's judiciary, as the Collegium continues to ensure that judicial resources are effectively allocated to meet the growing demands of the nation’s legal system.
