SC Collegium Recommends Elevation of Justice K Vinod Chandran to Supreme Court

The Supreme Court Collegium has proposed the elevation of Justice K. Vinod Chandran, currently serving as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, to the Supreme Court.

Justice Chandran began his judicial tenure as a judge of the Kerala High Court on November 8, 2011. He was subsequently appointed as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court on March 29, 2023, a position he has held since.

The Collegium, while recommending Justice K. Vinod Chandran's elevation, has considered the absence of representation from the Kerala High Court on the Supreme Court Bench. This vacancy arose following the retirement of Justice C.T. Ravikumar last week, leaving the Supreme Court without a judge from Kerala.

The Collegium led by CJI Sanjiv Khanna noted that during his long tenure as a judge, Justice Vinod Chandran "has acquired significant experience in diverse fields of law."
