SC collegium recommends appointment of Justice Deepak Kumar Tiwari as Permanent Judge of Chhattisgarh High Court

The Supreme Court has recommended the name of Justice Deepak Kumar Tiwari, Additional Judge, for appointment as a permanent Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court.

Earlier, on April 11 2023, the Collegium of the High Court of Chhattisgarh had recommended the name of Justice Tiwari for appointment as a permanent Judge of the High Court.

“The Chief Minister and the Governor of the State of Chhattisgarh have concurred with the above recommendation. In terms of the Memorandum of Procedure, we have consulted a Judge of the Supreme Court, who is conversant with the functioning of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, with a view to ascertain the suitability of Shri Justice Deepak Kumar Tiwari, Additional Judge for being appointed as a permanent Judge,” states the Collegium statement.

Justice Tiwari started his judicial career in 1990 as a Civil Judge, Class-II. He has served as District & Sessions Judge of Rajnandgaon and Balod. Subsequently, he was appointed as the Additional Director, Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy and also held various important positions in the Registry of the Chhattisgarh High Court.

He was working as the Registrar General of the High Court immediately before his elevation as an Additional Judge of the High Court on October 8, 2021.
