SC asked the Centre and the Delhi government to respond to Sukesh Chandrashekhar's and his wife's request to transfer them from Mandoli jail

The Supreme Court expressed its displeasure on Monday with alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar's repeated filing of petitions, saying "affordability" is no reason to file multiple petitions. A bench of Justices Ajay Rastogi and CT Ravikumar asked the Center and the Delhi government to respond to the petition within a week.

Two petitions were listed Monday by Chandrashekhar and his wife, Leena Paulose, seeking a transfer from Mandoli jail here, claiming a threat to their lives, as well as a 60-minute meeting with lawyers every day. The Supreme Court stated orally that affordability is not a reason to file multiple petitions.

During the hearing, the bench stated orally that Sukesh had the financial means to file numerous petitions. "Why is he coming to Court multiple times? What are the reasons, justifications to invoke the jurisdiction of this court in a short period between October and November? It means that he can afford, just because there are a good number of lawyers doesn't mean that he can do this", the bench added.

The Court also directed the jail authorities to consider Sukesh's application, if he makes one. "The counsel for the petitioner seeks to withdraw then petition in terms of liberty to file representation to jail authorities. If such an application is filed, the same is to be considered".
