SC agrees to hear AAP leader Satyendar Jain's bail plea on May 26

The Supreme Court of India agrees to hear the bail plea of former Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on May 26 in the money laundering case against him.

Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, counsel for Jain sought an urgent hearing on health grounds.

Yesterday, Jain was taken to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital after his health condition deteriorated in Tihar Jail.

In its plea, Jain challenged the order of the Delhi High Court, which refused to grant him bail in a money laundering case.

During the hearing in Delhi High Court, Singhvi had told the bench that Jain was facing extreme health problems and had lost 35 kg in custody.

Singhvi submits bench that Jain was suffering from muscular atrophy and had lost 35 kg. In addition, Jain is supposed to undergo some surgeries, Singhvi said.

A divisional vacation bench of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Sanjay Karol agreed to hear the matter on May 26.

Jain is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in connection to a money laundering case being investigated by the ED. The AAP leader, who previously held multiple portfolios, including health, home, power and water in the Delhi government, was arrested by the ED on May 31 last year.
