Pune Porsche Case : Accused Completed Court-Mandated 15-Day Safe Driving Programme

An official from the Regional Transport Office (RTO) reported on Sunday that the minor, accused of fatally hitting two individuals with his Porsche while driving under the influence in Pune on May 19, has completed a court-mandated 15-day safe driving program.

The incident, which occurred in Pune's Kalyani Nagar, claimed the lives of two IT professionals from Madhya Pradesh and sparked nationwide outrage. The public outcry was fueled by the lenient bail granted to the accused by the Juvenile Justice Board, as well as revelations from the police investigation, which uncovered attempts by the accused's family and some doctors to conceal the crime.

As part of the conditions for his release on bail by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), the accused was required to write a 300-word essay on road accidents and seek assistance from the Regional Transport Office (RTO) to study traffic rules and regulations.

"The juvenile accused completed the safe driving programme with the RTO. With respect to the guidelines of the court, the operation was kept discreet as it could have led to issue of privacy of the juvenile," a top RTO official said.

"The training programme included road driving safety measures, importance of driving licence, meaning of road signals and symbols and other activities. During the process, the juvenile was also taken for on-field training," the official added.

According to other officials, the minor has already submitted the required 300-word essay.
