POCSO Court Sentenced 20 years Imprisonment for Raping Mentally Challenged Girl

A special POCSO court here on Tuesday sentenced a person to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a 13-year-old mentally challenged girl.

Additional District Judge (POCSO) Madhu Dogra on Tuesday convicted Satish Rajbhar, also known as Chhotu, for the crime and imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on him, according to Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO) Ashwini Kumar Mishra.

The court ordered that the entire amount collected from the fine be given to the parents of the mentally challenged girl.

If the convict fails to pay the fine, he will face an additional five years in prison.

Superintendent of Police Meenakshi Katyayan stated that on March 8, when the family of the mentally challenged girl couldn't find her at home, they began searching for her. During their search, some women informed them that they had seen the girl with Satish Rajbhar around 5 pm.

Katyayan added that during the search, the girl was found naked in a field, with bite marks on her hands and feet.

The girl told her family about her ordeal through gestures. The same night, a case was filed against the accused under sections of the IPC and POCSO Act and the accused was sent to jail.
