Plea seeking Uniform Dress Code in School dismissed by Supreme Court

Justice Hemant Gupta who is part of the Constitution Bench hearing the matter of Hijab Ban sitting with Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia dismissed a Writ Petition filed seeking to order the Common dress code in all registered and recognized educational institutions for students and staff commenting "This is not a matter which has to come to Court."

Gurav Bhatia, Sr. Advocate appearing for the PIL petitioner argued before the court that "This is a Constitutional issue. Please come to page 58 of the petition. Direct a uniform Dress for staff and teachers. Your Lordships may pass any order. Under RTE, there has to be uniformity, there has to be discipline." He further argued that "His prayer is not to have one uniform in all schools in the country but to ensure that there is uniformity."

The Writ Petition was dismissed as withdrawn.
