Yesterday, Orissa High Court inaugurated 10 more virtual branches of the High Court in various districts of the State. Chief Justice (CJ) S Muralidhar of the Orissa High Court inaugurated virtual branches in Angul, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Kendrapara, Kandhamal at Phulbani, Mayurbanj at Baripada, Nayagarh and Sundargarh.
Earlier, in February, Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud inaugurated the first 10 virtual branches of the High Court.
These virtual branches will facilitate advocates from these districts to appear before the High Court virtually and also file their cases before the registry through the virtual mode.
"This is another historic moment for the State. It will ensure speedy justice at least in bail matters and cases which need immediate attention. It will reduce the cost of litigants and increase the efficiency. Now, citizens would not have to travel all the way to Cuttack for their hearing. They can attend it from their very own districts," CJ Muralidhar said.
