Offences under NDPS Act have become a social problem these days affecting the society at large: Raj. High Court

Single Bench of Rajasthan High Court Justice Vinit Kumar Mathur made the observation that "offences under NDPS Act have become a social problem these days affecting the society at large" while dismissing a bail petition of an accused who was arrested when he was found in possession of huge quantity of contraband drugs (670 parvorin Spas capsules.

The bench while dismissing the regular bail application also made observations that " The statement clearly establishes presence of the petitioner in the vehicle at the time of search and recovery of huge quantity of contraband. The argument of learned counsel for the petitioner that the petitioner is not connected with the recovery of contraband drugs is noted to be rejected and his submission that at the most recovery of contraband belongs to Gurpreet Singh is also far fetched as both the petitioner and Gurpreet Singh were traveling in the vehicle from which the recovery of huge quantity of contraband has been made."

It was urged for the advocate for the petitioner Ranjeet Singh Gill that 4 prosecution witnesses have been examined and the contraband was found from the possession of co-passanger and he was not aware of it.
