The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) has unveiled the timetable for the National Lok Adalats for the year 2024, in accordance with the mandates outlined in the Legal Services Authorities Act of 1987 and the National Legal Services Authority (Lok Adalats) Regulations of 2009.
The National Lok Adalats held nationwide are organised in alignment with the Legal Services Authorities Act of 1987, in conjunction with the National Legal Services Authority (Lok Adalats) Regulations of 2009, within the framework of courts and tribunals.
The approved schedule for the National Lok Adalats in 2024 is as follows:
1. 1st National Lok Adalat - 09/03/2024
2. 2nd National Lok Adalat - 11/05/2024
3. 3rd National Lok Adalat - 14/09/2024
4. 4th National Lok Adalat - 14/12/2024
The procedural framework for conducting these Lok Adalats underscores the significance of pre-Lok Adalat or pre-conciliation sessions ahead of the scheduled date, facilitating negotiation opportunities between involved parties. Furthermore, the integration of technology or digital platforms in the process is advocated to enhance the efficiency and organization of National Lok Adalats.
In NLAs in the past years, the statistical figures for cases disposed of in the last three years are as follows:
1. In 2021, four Lok Adalats were held, with 72.06 lakh pre-litigation cases and 55.82 lakh pending cases resolved.
2. In 2022, 4 Lok Adalats were held, 310.15 lakh pre-litigation cases and 109.11 lakh pending cases were disposed of.
