Today, Mumbai sessions court suspended the 15-day jail sentence which was imposed on Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MP Sanjay Raut.

The sentence, was given by Magistrate Court for defaming BJP leader and former MLA Kirit Somaiya and his wife, Medha Somaiya.

Additional Sessions Judge S.P. Pingale also granted bail to Raut, on a surety of ₹50,000. Notably, Raut was convicted by the Mazgaon Magistrate Court on September 26, which ordered him to pay ₹25,000 in compensation to the complainant, Medha Somaiya, the wife of the BJP leader.
