A letter has been sent to the President of India to disqualify Asaduddin Salahuddin Owaisi, Member of Parliament for Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, following his proclamation of 'Jai Palestine' immediately after his oath-taking ceremony yesterday.
AOR Alakh Alok Srivastava has brought to the President's attention a highly concerning incident that occurred in the Parliament of India yesterday. During his oath-taking as a Member of Parliament, Owaisi raised a pro-Palestine slogan, stating 'Jai Palestine'.
"It is pertinent to mention here that this is not the first time when Mr. Owaisi has displayed his unequivocal loyalty, support and allegiance to the said foreign country “Palestine”. Rather, it is a matter of record that Mr. Owaisi has been exhibiting his consistent support, allegiance and adherence to the said foreign state for last many years...", the letter adds.
Therefore, it has been requested that Owaisi be immediately disqualified from Parliament under Article 102(d) of the Constitution of India.
Srivastava has also emphasized that failure to act promptly against Owaisi could set a dangerous precedent with far-reaching consequences for the nation.
The President of India has been urged to seek the Election Commission of India's opinion under Article 103(2) and promptly disqualify Asaduddin Owaisi in the interest of preserving the integrity and unity of our nation, Bharat.
