Lawyer Attempts Suicide at Patna HC Following Rejection of Section 498A IPC Quashing Application

The lawyer, facing charges under Section 498A of the IPC related to cruelty against a spouse, made a distressing attempt to jump off the Patna High Court building after his plea to halt the proceedings was denied. This section specifically deals with cases involving harassment and cruelty towards a married woman by her husband or his relatives.

The lawyer, previously accused under Section 498A by his wife, sought relief through a quashing application, which the court rejected, imposing a penalty on him. Following the dismissal, the lawyer attempted to jump off the court building, but prompt intervention by court officials averted a tragic outcome.
