In a shocking incident in Tamil Nadu’s Hosur on Wednesday, a lawyer named Kannan was brutally attacked outside the city’s court complex. The attacker, identified as Anand, a court clerk, reportedly assaulted Kannan with a sickle.

Eyewitnesses intervened, preventing further harm, and Anand was subsequently arrested. Kannan, who sustained severe head injuries, was rushed to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

Preliminary reports suggest that Anand was allegedly angered by suspicions of an affair between Kannan and his wife.

The attack has sparked outrage within the legal fraternity. On Thursday, lawyers staged a protest outside the Madras High Court, demanding justice and better protection for members of the Bar.

During the High Court proceedings, the issue was raised, prompting the court to urge the police and representatives of the Bar to convene a meeting to address the safety and security of lawyers across the State.
