In exchange for land job scam case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) initiated a debate on Thursday to determine the allegations in the first charge sheet filed against National Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, their daughter Misa Bharti, and others.
After hearing both sides, Special Judge Geetanjali Goyal of the Rouse Avenue Court has scheduled the next hearing for September 1st.
During the hearing, Lalu's lawyer informed the court that an examination of documents has been conducted, but there is also evidence on electronic devices and pen drives that has not been examined yet. The court has granted one week for the examination of this evidence.
Meanwhile, the senior counsel representing the CBI informed the court that a supplementary charge sheet is to be filed in the case, and they have requested one week's time for this purpose.
The allegations are that during the period of 2004-2009, Lalu appointed his family members to various positions in Group D in exchange for the transfer of land and other properties in their names, thus gaining financial benefits.
Furthermore, it is alleged that in return for these appointments, individuals who were residents of Patna themselves or through their family members sold their land in favor of a private company controlled by Lalu's family members and received it as a gift.
It is also alleged that appointments in the Zonal Railways were made without any advertisement or public notice, yet individuals who were appointed and were residents of Patna were transferred to various Zonal Railways located in Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Hajipur.
