Kollam Court Finds Three Guilty, Acquits One in 2016 Collectorate Blast Case After Eight Years

On Monday, the Kollam Principal District and Sessions Court delivered its verdict in the 2016 Kollam Collectorate blast case, finding the first three accused guilty while acquitting the fourth accused. The judgment comes eight years after the incident.

The three accused, identified as Abbas Ali, Karim Raja, and Dawood Sulaiman, all from Tamil Nadu, were convicted in the case, while Shamsudeen was acquitted. The blast, which occurred on June 15, 2016, shook the premises of the collectorate and resulted in one injury. The court is scheduled to announce the sentencing for the convicted individuals on Tuesday.

The accused employed an improvised explosive device (IED) concealed within a jeep parked in the collectorate compound. The IED was detonated using a timer device.
