Sandeep, a school teacher, stabbed 23-year-old house surgeon Dr. Vandana Das to death using dressing room scissors. The attack occurred after Pooyappally police brought an injured man to the government hospital, where Dr. Das was working. She was stabbed sixteen times in the brutal assault.
“Accused is known to have a history of alcohol abuse disorder and was separated from his wife and children as he had attempted to kill her in a fit of rage. He is stated to have an anti-social personality disorder too”
The court highlighted that the cause of death was determined to be the injuries inflicted upon the victim.
"The court cited the postmortem report, which detailed the nature of injuries sustained by the victim. Among the 26 antemortem injuries identified, 16 were described as incise wounds. It was determined that the cause of death was attributed to these injuries located on the back of the chest," the court remarked.
The court further emphasized that measures are being implemented to appoint a special public prosecutor and ensure a swift trial, stating that "undue delay in the trial will not occur."
Considering the circumstances, the court remarked that "this is not a suitable case for granting bail to the accused." Consequently, the bail application was dismissed.
Additionally, today, the Court rejected the writ petition filed by Dr. Vandana's parents, requesting the transfer of the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The plea has been moved through Advocates B.A. Aloor, K.P. Prasanth, Archana Suresh, Haritha Hariharan, and Ailin Elezabeth Mathew.
