The Kerala High Court has given its verdict on the petition to ban the practice of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) going on in the Sarkara Devi Temple located in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala. Now no mass drills or weapons training will be conducted here.
In the said matter, two devotees had filed a petition against the training camp of RSS. In his petition, he has alleged that some people claiming to be in RSS are giving mass exercises and weapons fighting training in the temple premises. It has been said in the petition that due to their activities, the peace of the temple is disturbed and fear has arisen among the devotees.
In their petition, both the devotees had requested to issue an order to stop illegal use and unauthorized occupation of the temple premises. For information, let us tell you that the responsibility of management of this temple rests with Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB).
The Kerala High Court, while hearing a petition challenging the RSS training in the Sarkara Devi Temple, said 'The Travancore Devaswom Board is to manage the properties and affairs of the Sarkara Devi Temple and conduct the daily pujas and ceremonies in the said temple as per the usage and Arrangements have to be made for conducting festivals.
The Temple Advisory Committee of the Shri Sarkara Devi Temple, consisting of devotees who fall within the eligibility criteria prescribed in clause (3) of the rules made under sub-section (3) of section 31A of the Act, as per the usage of the temple Will provide necessary assistance to the Board and its officials for the smooth conduct of activities and festivals. The temple premises of Shri Sarkara Devi Temple cannot be used by group of devotees or individuals for conducting mass drill or weapons training.'
