The Kerala High Court has appointed Sri. Jayakrishnan R., currently serving as the Special Judge for the Trial of Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Cases in Kottarakara, as the new Special Commissioner to Sabarimala. He will assume this new role in addition to his existing responsibilities as a Special Judge.
The Division Bench, consisting of Justice Ail K. Narendran and Justice Harisankar V. Menon, issued the order in anticipation of the current Special Commissioner's term ending on June 28.
Sri. M. Manoj, the current Special Commissioner, was appointed by a High Court order on July 29, 2016. He concurrently holds the position of Enquiry Commissioner and Special Judge (Vigilance), Kottayam, as well as Additional District Judge – III, Kottayam.
The new Special Commissioner will take charge on 29.06.2024.
