Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approached the Supreme Court, challenging his arrest by the CBI in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam.
The special leave petition, filed before the apex court, contests the Delhi High Court's August 5 decision, which dismissed Kejriwal's plea against his arrest and subsequent remand by the CBI.
On Monday, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi mentioned the case before Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, seeking an urgent hearing.
The Enforcement Directorate had previously filed a prosecution complaint in the money laundering case, naming the AAP and its national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, as accused.
On July 12, the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Chief Minister Kejriwal in the money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Despite this, he remained in custody due to a separate arrest by the CBI.
Meanwhile, a local court extended Chief Minister Kejriwal's judicial custody in the excise policy case until August 20.
