The Karnataka High Court has stayed the investigation against a man accused of preventing his wife from eating French fries following the birth of their child in the United States.
Justice M. Nagaprasanna deemed the allegations trivial, stating that pursuing the investigation would be an abuse of the legal process. The court issued an interim stay on the investigation, emphasizing that such a probe would unjustly elevate the wife's allegations.
The husband, who is employed in the US, was granted permission to return to his job after assuring the court of his cooperation with the authorities. The man's petition argued that the complaint was frivolous, and his lawyer highlighted that a Look Out Circular (LOC) had been issued against him, preventing him from returning to work.
The court had earlier stayed the investigation against the husband's parents, who were also implicated in the complaint.
The wife alleged that her husband restricted her from eating certain foods, while the husband claimed that she had made him perform all household chores during their stay in the US before the child's birth.
