Yesterday, the Allahabad High Court, while hearing a legal dispute over alimony between a couple aged between 75 and 80, made a poignant remark, suggesting that the arrival of 'Kalyug' (the age of darkness in Hinduism) seemed imminent.

Justice Saurabh Shyam Shamshery of the Allahabad High Court expressed concern while hearing a petition filed by Munesh Kumar Gupta from Aligarh, who challenged a family court's order in favor of his wife regarding alimony.

The court issued a notice to the wife and advised the couple to seek a resolution before the next hearing. Mr. Gupta's wife had previously sought alimony, and the family court ruled in her favor, prompting him to contest the decision.

The high court expressed hope that an amicable agreement could be reached.
