Jyoti Maurya approaches Delhi HC regarding the viral memes about her, The court will also be addressing her divorce case today

The controversy surrounding sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Jyoti Maurya has approacches the Delhi High Court. The government employee has filed a plea requesting the removal of social media content, songs, and memes that mock her and her husband, Alok, who is a Class-IV employee.

Jyoti Maurya has been in a controversy after her husband, Alok Maurya, claimed that she had engaged in an extramarital affair with Manish Dubey, a home guard commandant in Ghaziabad.

A video featuring Alok Maurya shedding tears over his wife leaving him after attaining the position of SDM has further fueled the controversy. The case is scheduled to be heard in court.

Following this, Jyoti has claimed that she drew severe flak from social media users and was at the centre of criticism based on her spouse's allegations, causing her professional and mental stress.

Now, Jyoti Maurya has reached the Delhi High Court for the removal of videos, memes, etc. posted against her on various social media platforms.

In the plea, Jyoti Maurya has urged the court to direct the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to eject fake news, audio videos and objectionable news circulated on platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Jyoti Maurya perceives the online trolling as a violation of her right to privacy. She has asserted that a misleading campaign was initiated against her, with internet users allegedly creating obscene songs and videos featuring her. She further contends that despite filing a First Information Report (FIR) in connection with the matter, the police have not taken any action.

The divorce case involving SDM Jyoti Maurya and her husband Alok Maurya is scheduled for today's hearing in Prayagraj's family court. Jyoti Maurya was not present during the initial hearing of her divorce petition last month.

The divorce proceedings were initiated following a series of events involving the Maurya couple. In June, Alok Maurya's interaction with reporters gained traction on social media. In the video, he accused Jyoti of infidelity and expressed his emotional distress over their deteriorating marriage. Alok presented WhatsApp conversations allegedly exchanged between Jyoti and Manish, asserting that he had caught them "red-handed" in 2020.
