Justice Vibhu Bakhru Appointed as Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court

The Central Government has announced the appointment of Justice Vibhu Bakhru as the Acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court.

He succeeds Chief Justice Manmohan, whose elevation to the Supreme Court was approved earlier this week.

Born in Nagpur in 1966, Justice Bakhru completed his schooling at Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, New Delhi. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Delhi University in 1987 and became a Chartered Accountant in 1989. He pursued a law degree (LL.B) the following year and enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi in 1990.

Justice Bakhru practiced law extensively across various forums, including the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court, Company Law Board, and other tribunals. In recognition of his expertise, he was designated as a Senior Advocate in July 2011.

He was appointed an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court on April 17, 2013, and later confirmed as a Permanent Judge on March 18, 2015.
