Justice Taj Ali Moulasab Nadaf was formally sworn in as an additional judge of the Karnataka High Court on Monday morning.
The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice NV Anjaria in a ceremony attended by fellow High Court judges, lawyers, and distinguished guests, including Vishalaraghu HL, Chairman of the State Bar Council of Karnataka, who delivered the welcome address.
In his brief speech, Justice Nadaf expressed his gratitude to various individuals, particularly the members of the Supreme Court and High Court Collegium, for recommending his appointment.
He also thanked his family, teachers, and the legal fraternity for their unwavering support throughout his career.
"An opportunity has come to me to serve this great institution. I seek the guidance of Hon'ble Chief Justice, Shri NV Anjaria and esteemed brother and sister judges in my future endeavours. I shall strive hard to uphold the traditions of this great institution. I take this opportunity to seek the cooperation of the members of the Bar to enable to discharge my duties true to the oath I have taken. I shall strive hard and put forth my sincere efforts with dignity consistent with the high traditions set by our illustrious predecessors and meet the exacting demands of a judge to the best of my abilities. I thank you all once again. Jai Hind, Jai Karnataka," he said.
Justice Taj Ali Moulasab Nadaf has been appointed as an additional judge of the Karnataka High Court for a term of two years. His appointment, which was approved by the Central government on February 12, 2025, comes more than two years after the Supreme Court Collegium recommended his elevation from the Bar in January 2023.
With Justice Nadaf's appointment, the working strength of the High Court now stands at 50 judges, out of a sanctioned strength of 62, leaving 12 vacancies to be filled.
