Justice Manmohan Set to Take Oath as Supreme Court Judge

Delhi High Court Chief Justice Manmohan is scheduled to be sworn in as a judge of the Supreme Court tomorrow, following the Central Government's official notification of his appointment on Tuesday.

A farewell reference ceremony for Justice Manmohan took place today at the Delhi High Court, marking the culmination of his distinguished tenure as Chief Justice. He will serve as a Supreme Court judge for three years, until December 16, 2027.

Born on December 17, 1962, Justice Manmohan graduated with an LL.B. from Delhi University’s Campus Law Centre in 1987. The same year, he enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi and began practicing law before the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court. He was designated as a Senior Advocate by the Delhi High Court in January 2003.

Justice Manmohan’s judicial career began on March 13, 2008, when he was appointed as an additional judge of the Delhi High Court. He was made a permanent judge on December 17, 2009.

With his induction, the Supreme Court will have 33 judges, leaving one vacancy against its sanctioned strength of 34. Justice Manmohan's appointment is expected to further enhance the Supreme Court's capacity to handle its vast caseload efficiently.
