Today, Justice Lalitha Kanneganti sworn in as the Judge of Karnataka High Court, following her transfer from the Telangana.
Chief Justice Prasanna B Varale administered the oath of office.
The swearing in ceremony was followed by a welcome address by Vishalaraghu H L, Chairman of the Karnataka State Bar Council.
During the ceremony, Justice Kanneganti said “State of Karnataka is a perfect blend of globalisation with the existing traditional virtues. It is a land of sheer diversity be it culture, heritage or nature. Karnataka has a rich history of women's participation in both social and politically driven movements, right from the freedom movement, women have played a pivotal role.”
Further she said “The state is home to Hon’ble Justice B V Nagarathna, Judge Supreme Court of India, who would be the first woman Chief Justice of India. It gives me immense pleasure to be part of such a glorious institution.”
She further remarked that the consumer of justice wants unpolluted, expeditious and inexpensive justice. She said “I am very confident that with able assistance from the bar I will be able to discharge my duties in an effective manner.”
