On Saturday, a local court extended the judicial custody of Bibhav Kumar, an aide to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, until June 22. Kumar faces accusations of assaulting AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on May 13 at the chief minister's official residence.
During a video conference hearing, the duty metropolitan magistrate extended Kumar's custody and instructed the Delhi Police to present him in court on June 22.
Previously, on Friday, the court had prolonged Kumar's custody by one day due to the absence of the investigating officer.
Kumar was arrested on May 18, and on the same day, a magisterial court placed him in police custody for five days, noting that his anticipatory bail plea had become irrelevant due to his arrest.
On May 24, he was transferred to judicial custody for four days, after which he was remanded in police custody for an additional three days.
An FIR was registered against Kumar on May 16 under several Indian Penal Code provisions, including those pertaining to criminal intimidation, assault or criminal force with the intent to disrobe a woman, and attempted culpable homicide.
