Judges of historic Ayodhya verdict bench invited for 'Pran Pratistha' ceremony

As the nation eagerly awaits the grand consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22, a historic gesture has been extended to the five judges of the Constitution bench that delivered the landmark verdict in the Ram Janmabhoomi case over four years ago. The former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, former CJI SA Bobde, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, and former Supreme Court judges Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazeer, who ruled in favor of the construction of the Ram temple in 2019, have been invited to the event as state guests.

The momentous decision by the Constitution bench paved the way for the construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya. This invitation to the esteemed judges is a symbolic recognition of their pivotal role in the resolution of a long-standing and contentious issue. The inclusion of these eminent jurists in the ceremony highlights the significance of their judgment, which had far-reaching implications and marked a historic milestone in India's legal and cultural landscape.

The invite list extends beyond the bench, encompassing over 50 jurists, including former chief justices, judges, and renowned lawyers. Notable figures such as Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and former Attorney General KK Venugopal are also among the distinguished guests expected to attend this momentous occasion.

Preparations for the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony, which began on January 16 with seven days of religious rituals, are in full swing. The sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Temple now houses the idol of Ram Lalla, as revealed in the first visuals released on Thursday. The ceremony is set to culminate on January 22 with the official inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to be the chief guest at the event, underlining the government's commitment and involvement in this significant cultural and religious undertaking. The consecration ceremony is expected to draw over 7,000 attendees, including politicians, celebrities, industrialists, and saints, creating a diverse congregation for this historic moment.

The temple town of Ayodhya has undergone a major facelift in anticipation of the Ram Mandir event, reflecting the immense cultural and emotional resonance attached to this project. As the nation prepares to witness the realization of a longstanding dream, the invitation to the Constitution bench judges and other eminent personalities adds an extra layer of significance to an already historic occasion.

In a parallel tribute to the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released commemorative postage stamps dedicated to Ayodhya's Ram Temple and a book featuring stamps from around the world dedicated to Lord Ram. These initiatives further emphasize the cultural and global importance of the Ram Mandir, transcending national boundaries.

As the nation counts down to January 22, all eyes are on Ayodhya, where the consecration ceremony promises to be a moment of unity, spirituality, and historical significance, with the presence of the Constitution bench judges serving as a poignant reminder of the legal journey that led to this transformative event.
