The Jharkhand High Court has mandated the state government to submit a comprehensive affidavit detailing the execution of the Ayushman Scheme across hospitals within the state. This directive comes in response to a writ petition initiated by Ashok Kumar Mishra, urging the release of outstanding funds under the Ayushman Scheme for all affiliated hospitals in Jharkhand, and probing into any delays in reimbursement processes.

Justices Sujit Narayan Prasad and Arun Kumar Rai of the division bench expressed:

“This Court after having heard the learned counsel for the petitioner, is of the view that releasing the amount in favour of the hospitals who have imparted treatment to the persons coming under the Ayushman Scheme is one of the aspect of the matter which is looking to but the measure aspect of the matter which required to look into is that as to whether one or the other hospitals that have been registered under the Ayushman Scheme are actually claiming the said amount by giving actual treatment to the patients who are coming under the Ayushman Scheme.”

The counsel representing the State has been instructed to prepare and submit a detailed counter affidavit. This affidavit should include an inquiry into all hospitals enlisted under the Ayushman Scheme across the State. The purpose of this inquiry is to determine whether the Scheme's benefits have been effectively provided to eligible individuals, verifying whether the intended treatments have indeed been administered or not.

The matter has been posted on 22nd April 2024 for further hearing.
