Janata Dal (S) MLC Suraj Revanna's Police Custody Extended Till July 3rd

In Bengaluru, a city court has extended the police custody of Janata Dal (S) MLC Suraj Revanna until July 3rd. Revanna was arrested in connection with allegations of sexually abusing a man.

The 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate granted a two-day extension to Revanna's custody following an application by the Karnataka Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Significantly, Revanna is the elder brother of Prajwal Revanna, who himself faces allegations in multiple sexual assault cases. He is also the eldest son of political leader HD Revanna.

Special Public Prosecutor Ashok Naik, representing the Crime Investigation Department, requested custody of the accused.

On June 22, a young man filed a complaint with the Holenarasipur Rural Police, accusing Suraj Revanna of sexual harassment. He alleged that Suraj had assaulted him sexually, and that H.L. Shivakumar had threatened him with murder if he reported the harassment to the police.

Following this, an FIR was registered against the accused under Sections 377 (unnatural offences), 342 (illegal detention), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. Subsequently, the Hassan Police arrested Suraj Revanna on June 22.

Recently another complaint on similar charges has been registered against Suraj Revanna.
