The Delhi High Court, known for its serious legal proceedings, recently offered a glimpse of its lighter side during a cross-examination. In a humorous exchange, a senior justice jokingly remarked about only seeing stars in the sky at seven o'clock.
This playful comment was in response to a senior advocate’s reference to an asterisk on page six of the case documents, highlighting the court's new initiative, "Humor in Court."
On September 11, Delhi High Court's Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and IT Chairman Justice Rajiv Shakdhar launched "Humor in Court" on their website. This initiative aims to collect and share amusing and memorable moments from the courtroom, bringing a touch of humor to the legal field.
Justice Rajeev Shakdhar explained that this new feature will provide a space for sharing light-hearted courtroom exchanges. While the platform is designed for fun, advocates must adhere to specific guidelines to maintain professionalism. Contributions will be anonymous, and anyone can submit their funny courtroom stories to delhihighcourt@nic.in. These submissions will be reviewed by a sub-committee of three judges before being published online.
This initiative offers a refreshing look at the often serious world of law, celebrating the lighter moments that make the courtroom experience unique.
