I am son of a judge, do not misunderstand me - Dushyant Dave argued in the Supreme Court

Chief Justice of India Dr. DY Chandrachud on Wednesday defended the Supreme Court Registry, saying it is very easy to criticize. In fact, Advocate Prashant Bhushan on Wednesday 22nd February in front of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud put a petition related to Tamil Nadu's famous 'Cash for Jobs Scam' case for urgent list. Prashant Bhushan said that in September 2022, the bench of Justice Abdul Nazeer and Justice V Ramasubramanian had rejected the decision of the High Court.

On this, Senior Advocate Dushyant Dave said that the matter was first listed before Justice Krishna Murari, but was later transferred to another bench. Dave said that “the Registry must follow the rules…”. On this comment of Advocate Dushyant Dave, CJI Chandrachud replied 'It is very easy to criticize the registry, but I will take a decision only after seeing the paper first…'.

After this comment by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta said that it is for the Chief Justice to decide before which bench to list a case. Because he is the Master of Roster and all the parties should respect his decision.

After this comment of SG Tushar Mehta, Dushyant Dave said that "I am also the son of a judge and I have deep faith in the judiciary. I am not criticizing anyone personally, please don't take it otherwise".

To this, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said, 'It is easy to criticize someone without knowing the full facts, but I will see the paper in the evening'.

On the other hand, senior advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan brought it to the notice of the court that earlier this matter was listed before the bench of Justice V Ramasubramanian, hence it went before him again. During this, senior advocate Kapil Sibal, who was present in the court, argued that such matters should not be discussed in the court at all.
