Hundreds of cases registered by Mumbai & Delhi police for fire cracker brusting

Despite strict orders of the Supreme Court on Diwali Fire crackers, the public has burn them a lot. The police has now taken action in the matter of burning firecrackers. While on one hand action has been taken in Mumbai, Delhi Police has also taken some action. Cases have been registered. Mumbai Police has registered 784 cases and taken action against 806 people for violating Bombay High Court's directions on bursting firecrackers during Diwali, a Maharashtra Police official said. According to media reports, 17 cases have been registered in North East area of Delhi, 2 in South District and 8 North District.

Concerned over the poor air quality in Mumbai city, the Bombay High Court had last week issued directions to ban bursting of firecrackers during Diwali. Hearing several petitions, including one taken suo motu. Regarding rising air pollution, the court had directed that firecrackers can be burst only between 8 pm and 10 pm but despite this order, a large number of Firecrackers were burst. The police took strict action regarding this and registered 784 cases for violations. The official said the city police had been asked to take action against people violating norms related to air pollution. The official said 784 crimes were registered in various police stations across Mumbai city and action was taken against 806 persons. He said that 734 of the violators have been fined for causing air pollution. He said that this campaign will continue for the next few days during the festive season.
