The Telangana High Court on Friday granted interim bail to actor Allu Arjun, who had been remanded to 14-day judicial custody following a tragic stampede at Sandhya Theatre on December 4.
The incident, which occurred ahead of the premiere of his much-anticipated film Pushpa 2: The Rule, claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman and left her nine-year-old son hospitalised due to suffocation.
According to authorities, a team from the Chikkadpally police station detained Arjun at his Jubilee Hills residence and later brought him in for questioning.
The stampede unfolded as a massive crowd gathered at the Hyderabad theatre to catch a glimpse of the actor.
In Pushpa 2, Allu Arjun reprises his role as Pushpa Raj, a labourer-turned-sandalwood smuggler, alongside Rashmika Mandanna as Srivalli and Fahadh Faasil as SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat.
The first installment of the franchise, directed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, was a major commercial hit, grossing over ₹300 crore domestically and winning fans beyond the Telugu-speaking audience.
The sequel also features an ensemble cast, including Jagapathi Babu, Dhananjaya, Rao Ramesh, Sunil, and Anasuya Bharadwaj.
