"Why are such dead horses required to be pulled?" Justice Bhatt was questioned on Monday when the matter was called out.
The Court decided to postpone the proceedings and scheduled the next hearing for January 9.
Setalvad faced accusations of excavating the bodies of victims from the 2002 Gujarat riots and generating considerable media attention by showcasing them to the electronic media. Her involvement in the case emerged following claims by her associate, Rehman Khan, who departed from the situation and accused Setalvad of issuing orders to dig the graves and exhume the bodies.
In parallel, Setalvad faced additional charges for purportedly fabricating evidence in the 2002 Gujarat riots case to implicate the current Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who was then the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Notably, the police referenced the mass grave digging case to establish what they deemed as Setalvad's "criminal antecedents" while filing this FIR against her.
