Former Supreme Court Judge Hemant Gupta appointed Chairperson of New Delhi International Arbitration Centre

The Union Government has appointed Justice (Retd) Hemant Gupta, Judge, Supreme Court of India has been appointed as Chairperson of the New Delhi International Arbitration Centre (NDIAC).

Justice Gupta retired on 16.10.2022 as a Supreme Court Judge. Recently Justice Gupta rendered a judgment in favor of the Government of Karnataka in 'Hijab Ban Case.:

The appointment committee of the Central Government has given information in this regard by uploading an information note on the website.

Justice Gupta was elevated as Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court in 2002. He became Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in 2018 and in 2018 he was elevated to the Supreme Court as Judge.

Father of Justice Gupta has also been a judge and remained Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court in 1991.

New Delhi Internation Arbitration Centre was established in 2019, is an autonomous body located in Delhi to conduct arbitrations, mediations and cancellation proceedings. It is also declared an institute of national interest by an Act of Parliament.
