Former CJI Dipak Misra joins Bennett University's School of Law

Former Chief Justice of India, Dipak Misra, has joined Bennett University's School of Law as an eminent jurist and distinguished law professor, marking a significant addition to the institution's academic team.

In expressing their warm welcome to Justice Misra, Bennett University's Pro-Vice Chancellor, Ajith Abraham, remarked, "We are deeply honored and privileged to have the esteemed Justice Dipak Misra join our ranks at Bennett University. His presence will undoubtedly enrich the academic journey of our law students, offering them invaluable insights into the nuances of the legal profession and the practical application of legal principles."

Dipak Misra commenced his legal career by enrolling at the Bar on February 14, 1977. He practiced law at the Orissa High Court and the Service Tribunal, where he handled a variety of cases. In 1996, he received his initial judicial appointment as an Additional Judge of the Orissa High Court. Subsequently, in the following year, he was transferred to the Madhya Pradesh High Court and was confirmed as a Permanent Judge on December 19, 1997.

In December 2009, Justice Misra assumed the role of Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, a position he held until May 2010, when he was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court. His judicial journey continued to ascend when he was elevated to the Supreme Court on October 10, 2011.

Later, Justice Misra served as the 45th Chief Justice of India, a position he assumed on August 28, 2017. His tenure at the Supreme Court lasted for thirteen months, concluding upon his mandatory retirement at the age of 65 on October 2, 2018.
