A fatal incident occurred at the Patna court premises on Wednesday, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to two others due to a power transformer explosion. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Town), Ashok Kumar Singh, confirmed that the blast occurred during the afternoon at the civil court, claiming the life of a notary instantly.
"Two injured lawyers have been promptly transported to Patna Medical College and Hospital for necessary medical attention," stated Mr. Singh.
"However, the process of conducting an inquest on the deceased notary, Devendra Singh, is currently hindered by lawyers staging a demonstration at the court premises, thereby preventing the police from removing the body. Our priority is to pacify them and facilitate the necessary procedures."
The advocates, who raised slogans against the administration and the power department, alleged that the transformer had "visible defects," about which written complaints had been submitted before the authorities concerned, but no action was taken.
The Deputy SP emphasized the commitment to address concerns raised by lawyers by assuring them that filing a written complaint to the police about the incident would result in the lodging of an FIR. Furthermore, he assured that necessary actions would be taken against individuals found culpable for any negligence. Additionally, he mentioned that the bereaved family would receive ex-gratia in accordance with the government's policy regarding such incidents.
