The Delhi State Legal Service Authority is organizing a National Lok Adalat on December 14, aimed at resolving various pending cases through amicable settlements. The event will provide an opportunity for the public to resolve disputes across various legal matters, including civil, criminal, and traffic cases.
The initiative seeks to expedite case disposal and ensure quicker access to justice for citizens.
The practice of conducting four National Lok Adalats annually has yielded positive outcomes in recent years. Notably, statistical figures from the years 2021 to 2023 reveal a significant number of cases disposed of during these events. The data indicates a consistent effort to address the backlog of legal cases, providing a ray of hope for litigants seeking timely resolutions.
The Lok Adalat will address a variety of cases, including criminal compoundable offences, cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act (Section 138), bank recovery cases, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal cases, matrimonial disputes, labour disputes, land acquisition cases, electricity and water bills (excluding non-compoundable theft cases), service matters concerning pay, allowances, and retirement benefits, revenue cases, and other civil cases such as rent disputes, easementary rights, injunction suits, and specific performance suits.
