District Court summons Sandeep Maheshwari in defamation case filed by Vivek Bindra

In a significant legal development, the District Court of Faridabad has issued summons to Mr. Sandeep Maheshwari, a well-known figure in the field of motivational speaking and entrepreneurship.

This action comes in response to a criminal defamation case filed against him by Dr. Vivek Bindra, another prominent personality in the same domain.

Dr. Vivek Bindra, the CEO of Bada Business Pvt Limited, and an internationally acclaimed motivational speaker, lodged the complaint against Mr. Sandeep Maheshwari, alleging the dissemination of false and defamatory statements aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

Dr. Bindra, a recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including Guinness World Record and India News Bharat Ka Gorav Award, claimed that Mr. Maheshwari deliberately aimed to harm his reputation and promote his own business venture through defamatory videos and community posts.

The complaint detailed multiple instances where Mr. Maheshwari allegedly made disparaging remarks against Dr. Bindra, accusing him of involvement in scams and fraudulent activities.

These statements, according to Dr. Bindra, not only caused severe reputational damage but also led to tangible losses, including the resignation of several employees from his company.

The Court in its order on 05.03.2024 stated that the content shared by Mr. Maheshwari on YouTube prima facie appears to have dented the image of Dr. Vivek Bindra, the complainant in the case. The court also recorded that the videos and the community posts had lowered the image of Vivek Bindra in the eyes of the public. Consequently, the court was of the view that the elements of Section 499 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), regarding defamation, have been satisfied.

During the preliminary evidence phase, Dr. Bindra, along with other witnesses, provided testimony supporting his claims. Witnesses testified to the significant impact of Mr. Maheshwari's statements on Dr. Bindra's reputation and expressed shock at the nature of the allegations made against him.

In response to the summons issued by the District Court, Mr. Sandeep Maheshwari will be required to appear in court on 2nd April 2024 and defend himself against the allegations of defamation leveled by Dr. Bindra.
