Delhi High Court directed the State Government to Conclude the appointment process of ASHA workers in Chilla Khadar Locality of Delhi

Today, Delhi High Court has directed the Delhi Government to conclude the appointment process of ASHA workers in the Chilla Kadar locality of the Capital. The bench directed the State Government to conclude the process within the six weeks.

The bench was headed by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad, the plea was filed by the Chhote Lal seeking to appoint the two trained ASHA workers or health workers for distribution of medicines in the Chilla Khadar locality.

 In the plea, he also mentioned to sought direction from the respondents to provide a list of vacancies for all ASHA workers in Delhi.

In the year 2016, an affidavit was filed by the Union of India and the Delhi Government, in which it was stated that an ASHA worker was selected for the locality and the second worker was to be selected by mid of February that year.

 The Counsel member of the petitioner said that both the ASHA workers have been appointed in respect of the locality.

It was requested that the plea may be disposed of with a direction to the respondents that in case the ASHA workers have not been appointed yet, the same may be done as expeditiously as possible, in view of the vacancies shown in the affidavit.

 The Court said,

“In light of the aforesaid, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to the Respondents to conclude the process of appointment of ASHA workers, if the same has not been done, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six weeks from today,”
